PWS is a complex syndrome that manifests with severe, idiosyncratic symptoms including insatiable appetite, mild to moderate developmental delays, emotional and behavioral problems, obsessive compulsive behaviors, and slow body metabolism. The syndrome occurs once in about every 12,000 – 15,000 births on average, and is found in all races and ethnic groups. One child is born every day in the U.S. with PWS.
