PWS Consultation Services

Latham Centers' Prader-Willi syndrome consultation team provides customized consultation services tailored to the specific challenges and needs of children and adults with PWS. Our consultation initiatives serve to equip the larger PWS community with best practices.

Consultation services are provided to day program, group home, school, and home environments. In order to best prepare for the consult, the Latham Centers team schedules an initial discussion of the current situation and goals for the consult. The team requests current materials and documents pertaining to the individual. The consult team also requires an approved invoice from the payor source. The Latham Centers team plans their own travel and accommodations (reimbursable upon receipt of invoice).

The consultation may include:

  • Environmental Analyses
  • Interviews
  • Observations (including home, day program, transportation, and educational environments)
  • Team Meetings
  • Trainings
  • Workshops
  • Review of Previously Used Plans
  • Recommendations and Tools for Success

Generally, the Latham Centers consult team will cover topics including, but not limited to:

  • Genetics
  • Medical
  • Anxiety
  • Behaviors
  • Food Seeking
  • Best Practices
  • Strategies for Success
  • Case Studies

The Consultants will provide the team with:

  • Environmental Analysis
  • Observation Notes
  • Overview of best practices based on the training
  • Copies of all training materials
  • Written recommendations
  • Copy of the LivingHealthy Cookbook and Supplement

“On behalf of the entire team, thank you for your time and expertise; we found the workshop profoundly helpful to our work with [our student]. We began to introduce [her favorite staff’s] leaving and utilized a social story to introduce this transition. In addition, we’re working with [our student] to create her list of people who help her with school, feelings, or problems.”

~ Special Education Department Chair

“We have found your consultation to be very helpful and look forward to our follow-up visit.  The staff are so grateful for all of the tools they have taken away from this.”
