We need you to ride The Gasp with Team Latham!

Latham Centers is participating in the 2019 The Gasp (formerly Cape Cod Charitable FunRaisers’ The Last Gasp) – Bike, Boat and Bake. Now under the umbrella of the Barnstable Charitable Foundation, this fundraising event on Sunday, September 15th incorporates a 55-mile bike ride, an hour-long Cape Cod Bay boat cruise, and a traditional Cape Cod clambake. To attract more recreational cyclists, 2019 The Gasp riders will now take the Cape Cod Rail Trail bike path from Brewster to Wellfleet – a much safer way to ride over 20 miles of the 55-mile course. Three Latham staff members – Dawn Dinnan, Heather Kelsey, and Anne McManus, have already signed up for the challenge, along with Christine Gillstrom-Burgess, Chair of Latham Centers’ Board of Directors, her husband Mark Burgess, and Latham parent Steve Bebrin.

The Gasp participants don’t have to be experienced cyclists; first-timers are encouraged to participate. We hope to double last year’s numbers with a team of 14 riders.

The registration fee for each rider is $95, and each team member is required to raise $500 or more. Participants will have the opportunity to create a personal fundraising page to share via e-mail or on social media, and all funds raised through Latham’s participation in The Gasp will go to the Expanding our Circle capital campaign for the Latham Community and Arts Center.

Each member of Team Latham will receive a 2019 team jersey as well as a The Gasp t-shirt. There are several opportunities to join other The Gasp riders on training rides across the Cape and Latham will be holding two training rides – one in August and one in September. This event is a lot of fun and a great way to get in shape this summer! Visit https://www.thegasp.org/registration-details to register. Be sure to choose Latham as your beneficiary charity.
