Step-by-Step Instruction for a Winter Cardinal – Katrina Kozak

Since the onset of COVID-19, The PWS Outreach Group at Latham Centers has invited students from around the country to participate in a Virtual Drawing Class and Craft Corner. Conducted through Zoom and led by Patrice Carroll, Brittni Kliment, and Katrina Kozak, the class takes students on journeys that include crafting and learning how to draw animals via step-by-step instruction, spending time with peers, and listening to a song together at the end.

Katrina Kozak, Director of National Outreach, said that every week she looks forward to leading students through the classes. “Over time in drawing class, we have had the opportunity to watch students blossom, which has led to creative growth but moreover, attendees gaining confidence. It has been an incredible experience.”

One parent said, “[My Daughter] has done so many art projects that have turned into presents and decorations. She is so proud to show us what she has done each week. We put up a shelf above her desk so that she has plenty of room to create. She has kept some recent favorites to look at in front of her when she is using her desk.”

Throughout the next couple of weeks, we will highlight students’ artwork and tell you a bit more about the process. In today’s Virtual Art Show video, we feature BB, MR, and LR. Congratulations to these kind and thoughtful artists!
