TIP of the WEEK: To Do List

Latham-CentersWe spend so much time talking about what not to do with a person with PWS; how to avoid outbursts, how to not make things worse. Here are some do’s:
Laugh. Every day. I’m willing to bet that your son or daughter is pretty darn funny because I know that the people that I work with are. Let yourself see the humor.
Say yes often. We say no too much. Say yes every chance you get.
Let them be little. Don’t spend too much time worrying about what happens next. Focus on today.
Be proud. Maybe they are not meeting the milestones like your other kids or your friends kids but take pride in what they can do. The strength and determination it took them to meet that milestone is something to take great pride in.
Take some time for yourself. You work hard. Really hard. Acknowledge that even if no one else does.

This is the third week of PWS awareness month.
