Tip of the Week: Rare diseases impact over 300 million people worldwide

Rare Disease Day, the official international awareness-raising campaign for rare diseases, is the last day of February. The focus of the day is to raise awareness – not only for the general public, but also for decision-makers – about rare diseases and how they impact individuals and families.  There are over 300 million people worldwide living with a rare disease, including those with Prader-Willi syndrome. PWSA (USA) encourages all of us to #ShareYourRare throughout the month of February. You can help spread awareness about PWS by downloading PWSA (USA)’s activity calendar here.

Patrice Carroll is Latham Centers’ world-renowned Prader-Willi syndrome specialist. She works with Latham’s residents with PWS, their families, and consultants, continuously learning and teaching about PWS best practices. Do you have questions for our PWS specialist? Submit your “tip” topics or general questions to TipTopics@LathamCenters.org.
