TIP of the WEEK: Music is Medicine
May 27, 2016
Music can be an extremely therapeutic tool to use throughout your child’s day. It is especially useful during times of transition or high anxiety. Do not hesitate to allow your child headphones and music during doctors appointments, car rides, or transitions during school (ask for this in his or her IEP). Test types of music with different beats and see what works for your child as far as calming/energizing and use it daily to deescalate or get moving.
