The Latham Hawks are Busy
September 27, 2010
The Latham Hawks presently have two Special Olympics teams this season; soccer and flag football. The number of athletes on both teams is very high and we need to split our soccer, and maybe our football, team into two squads. Erin Blood and Allison Baier are the head soccer coaches while Wayne MacDonald, and if necessary, Ron Ung are in charge of the football team.
Special Olympics only allow athletes to compete for one team during the State Games. As a result, the soccer team will only participate in the Assessment round and will not attend the State Games as a team. Most of our athletes are playing for both teams and it didn’t seem right to make everyone choose what they liked best.
The Assessment game for Football is being held on October 2 at Taunton High and soccer will meet on October 3 at North Attelboro High School. Go Hawks!!
