Students visit the Mass Audubon to learn about coastal birds

Our students on campus visited the Mass Audubon in Wellfleet to learn about coastal birds on Cape Cod. Special Education Teachers Jeffrey Lee and Lisa Radtke helped to coordinate the activity. “We had the opportunity for the amazing staff from the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Center host us to learn about coastal birds and how birds have adapted to fit their environment over time,” Jeff said. “While at the Audubon center, they were able to watch wild birds as well as see some of the aquatic animals in our unique coastal space. Spring and her staff worked with our students and gave them an experience that will be with them for years to come.”

After returning to campus, Jeff, who is also a painter, crafted the beautiful Blue Heron ‘thank you’. Our students joyfully signed the frame and wrote messages of thanks.

Spring Beckham, Mass Audubon’s School Programs Coordinator, Cape Cod, told Jeff and Lisa they had a great time working with our students. “Thank you both for organizing the trips. I hope everyone enjoyed the visit – we heard a lot of nice feedback/favorite activities from your students. And thank you again for the beautiful card – what a nice surprise!”

Huge thank you to our friends at the Mass Audubon!
