Students tour French Cable Station Museum in Orleans

Latham students were welcomed by volunteers at the historic French Cable Station Museum in Orleans this week. The group was given a guided tour of the museum, and students learned about the technology countries relied upon to communicate with each other in the late 1800s. During World War I, General Pershing in France communicated with the U.S. Government through this cable station on Cape Cod (now listed on the National Register of Historic Places). Our students and teachers from the Race Point and Nauset classrooms are grateful to the museum staff for the special outing – and for the lesson in American history.
