Students Learn about the Digestive System
January 23, 2017
Last week at Latham Centers students learned about the human digestive system. Teachers and aides turned this not only into a science lesson but an art lesson as well – toilet paper roll the for the esophagus, felt for the stomach, cotton balls for the large intestine, and pipe cleaners for the small intestines.
While this lesson is important to any young student learning about his or her body, it is particularly important at Latham Centers as many of our residents have a Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS) diagnosis. Inherent in understanding PWS is the digestive system, and how critical it is to our daily health.
