Our Children’s Program Special Olympics team has impressed and inspired peers, staff, family, and friends at tournaments and practices in recent weeks. Here are just a few highlights:

Basketball: Residential Activities Coordinator Danny Anderson reflected, “What an amazing basketball season it has been! All athletes have shown so much growth both athletically and socially!” The Latham Hawks competed in their final games of the Season on March 11th at the Tournament, where they walked away with bronze medals!

Movie Screening – Champions: As a special congratulations to our Latham Hawks basketball players, the coaches and athletes went to the Chatham Orpheum Theater on March 12th for a special screening of Champions. Danny worked with the Orpheum staff to set up a private screening of the movie for our students and other Cape Cod area Special Olympics teams.

Bowling: The Latham Hawks Bowling Team is perhaps one of the favorite Special Olympics opportunities for our residents. Many of our student athletes earned gold, silver, and bronze medals this season.

Track and Field: Our Track and Field athletes are gearing up for the spring season. Practices will take place Thursdays and Fridays. Thursdays will be focused on running and endurance training; Fridays will be focused on the throwing and jumping events. Students have already begun preparing. Go, Hawks!
