Principal’s Corner: A momentous day—Brewster FD hosts graduating Latham student

On Wednesday, March 20th, Brewster Fire Department’s Deputy Chief Kevin Varley took time out of his busy day to tour our soon-to-be Latham School graduate Nick around the fire station.  Nick has had a love for fire trucks and stated that he would like to be a firefighter someday. Nick was thrilled to get the opportunity and it far exceeded his expectations!  Deputy Chief Varley showed Nick around the new station – everything from offices, living quarters, and report rooms to fire apparatus and equipment. Nick was most excited to see the trucks, spray the fire hose, and getting to test out the jaws of life. Nick’s tour ended with a ride back to our Latham Centers campus in one of the Brewster fire trucks!

Brewster Fire Department said in a public post, “We wish Nick the best of luck and success as he moves on… and we also thank the staff at Latham for allowing us to be a part of this special day!”

We truly cannot thank the Brewster Fire Department and Deputy Chief Varley enough for taking the time to give Nick an amazing tour!  It was hands-down the best day of his life, and something he will never forget. We are so appreciative for their ongoing support to all of our Latham students!
