        Administration Visits Connecticut School District

Principal Brittni Taylor and I had the pleasure of visiting the Guilford School District in Connecticut last week. Every summer, Latham has the pleasure of hosting a young man from the Guilford school district for our Summer Tide Program. Homer and his family reside on Cape Cod for the summer and Homer joins the Latham community for a fun-filled summer of academics, community outings, and vocational work.

 
Brittni and I met with Homer’s family, the Guilford Director of Special Education, the Cox School’s Principal, and Homer’s teacher, to hear about how Homer is doing academically and socially this year. We were able to spend time in the Cox School, receiving a personal tour from Homer himself! Many smiles and laughs were had during the tour, with everyone excited for Homer to finish the school year before attending Latham’s program this summer. Homer was extremely excited to see both Brittni and I, former teachers of his here at Latham, and stated that “this is the best surprise ever” throughout the day. Homer was eager to ask about his friends at Latham, while introducing us to all of his friends in Guilford.

 
Staff and students are eager for the Summer Tide Program to begin and are extremely excited for Homer to join our community in July!
