Our Director of PWS Services, Patrice Carroll, LICSW, created a short video for the parents in our Prader-Willi syndrome community after many inquiries from parents and a recent staff training for our Children’s and Adult Program staff. We promise you’ll learn something that may make the next few weeks just a little bit easier!
“We are going to talk about how to get through the holidays – what we need to do to make sure that they are safe, they’re fun, and that everyone has the holiday that they deserve… Food holidays can cause a lot of stress, and it’s not just the food… We want to make sure that everyone is set up for success; that you know who is going to be there, that you know what food is going to be there, and you know how the supervision is going to go.”
In this helpful video, Patrice focuses on the topics of getting through the holidays and how we can best respond. She discusses expectations, fear of failure, inflexibility/rigidity, creativity. We hope that everyone has a relaxing and wonderful holiday, and wish you and yours warmth, hugs, and happiness!
