Latham students and staff cheer on Torch Run for Special Olympics

During our regular school day last Wednesday, Latham School students supported the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run by making signs and cheering on the runners committed to our Cape Cod Special Olympians.

The Torch Run program is one of the most important year-round fundraising initiatives supporting Special Olympics Massachusetts. Every year, law enforcement from around Massachusetts hosts a series of runs leading up to the Special Olympics Summer Games. All the money raised through the Cape Cod leg of the Torch Run goes directly to benefit more than 800 athletes competing year-round who reside on the Cape.

The Cape Cod run on May 30th began before dawn from the Provincetown Police Department and continued all the way to the Bourne Police Department. It passed through almost every town on the Cape, including right past the Latham School campus on Route 6A! As in past years, we showed our support for the Brewster Police Department and so many other dedicated law enforcement runners as they passed our grateful, enthusiastic students and staff.
