Latham Players receive grant from Arts Foundation of Cape Cod for rehearsal pianist

Our Latham Players have been awarded a generous grant from the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod to fund the cost of a rehearsal pianist for the coming year. The Latham Players is a group of approximately 15 adult performers drawn from Latham Centers’ adult residential program. They perform at various venues throughout Cape Cod; singing at church services and nursing homes, performing on local cable TV, and joining with Cape Cod CAN in talent shows and a large scale musical production held at the Cotuit Center for the Arts. The Players also perform at Latham School special events and functions. Dinah Lane, Artistic Director of the Latham Players, was thrilled to learn of the grant award.

“Working with a live accompanist will be a wonderful opportunity for our group to improve their musicality,” Dinah said. In the past, the Players have rehearsed and performed to pre-recorded music. “The addition of a pianist at rehearsals will allow the Players to better develop their pitch and will enhance their use of musical dynamics. We are so grateful to the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod for recognizing the value of our Latham Players program.”

In addition to bringing their love of music to diverse audiences, the group seeks to develop their skills, creativity, confidence, and pride of accomplishment in a supportive, non-competitive atmosphere. Thank you, Arts Foundation of Cape Cod, for supporting our Latham Players!
