Latham plants memorial tree in honor of dear friend and philanthropist Bob Bernstein
October 18, 2017
We hosted a Memorial Tree Planting on campus Monday in honor of Bob Bernstein, a long-time Latham friend and parent who passed suddenly in January. For many years, Bob Bernstein served as co-chair of our annual Charity Golf Classic.
Bob’s family was in attendance, and his son participated in the planting. Katrina Fryklund spoke on behalf of Latham’s students, staff, and Board of Directors. “I had the good fortune of working beside Bob Bernstein as together we planned many Golf Classics. It’s fitting that this planting occurs the day of our 8th Golf Classic; it was probably one of Bob’s favorite Latham days, when he could golf along-side his friends and family. Last year, Bob was honored at our 2016 Golf Classic, and when he spoke at the podium, he was so prideful about the importance of Latham Centers, and the impact of the Golf Tournament on all our residents. His energy was contagious, and I was so lucky to have him as a co-chair.”
Anne McManus spoke, followed by Bob’s daughter Alanna. Both recognized Bob’s permanent impact on the community and his commitment to Latham Centers’ mission.
Pictured above, the plaque reads: “In loving memory of Bob Bernstein, whose legacy of kindness and generosity will have a lasting impact on the children of Latham Centers.”
