“Latham Open” tennis tournament highlights

The inaugural “Latham Open” held on July 13th was a great success, reported Board of Directors member and Latham parent Matt McCleery. The weather was perfect, the spirits were high, and the competition was keen for the inaugural “Latham Open” tennis tournament,” he said.

Boys and girls in the “14 and Under” and “16 and Under” age group battled to take home the trophies (kindly designed and donated by Dia Prantis of Sandwich, whose son Oliver competed in the tournament). The event was sanctioned by the United States Tennis Association and graciously hosted by Eric Beebe, Susan Frasier, and the Harwich Recreation Department.

All proceeds of the tournament will support Latham School, where Matt’s son is a student. The Latham Open was generously sponsored by Homer McCleery’s grandparents, Jim and Peggy Brown of Darien, Connecticut.

Matt said the players and organizers alike are already looking forward to next year’s event.  Thank you to all who made the Latham Open tennis tournament so successful!
