Principal’s Corner: Latham Hawks Special Olympics Bowling Season Comes to an End after Candlepin Tournament

Special Olympics

The Special Olympics bowling team, the Latham Hawks, finished off their season by attending the Candlepin Tournament at Alley Kat Lanes in Kingston on Sunday. The kids had a great time and were wearing uniforms and smiles from beginning to end.
Excitement grew around campus as students prepared for the event with help from staff. Supervisors, Direct Care Staff, Nurses, Clinicians and Kitchen Staff all came together to help prepare students for this event. Often times it’s easy to forget all that occurs when a large group of students go off campus, however Latham staff handle it with ease. While Supervisors oversaw the processes, Direct Care staffers and Clinicians worked one on one with the students to ease anxieties and dress for success. Additionally, nurses prepared medications and attended the event so as not to displace students’ routines, while our Kitchen Staff prepared individualized meals specific to each bowlers dietary needs. A huge thank you also goes out to Frannie Quirk who led the students throughout the season in practices and tournaments.
GO LATHAM HAWKS!
