October 25, 2022
Special Olympics practices and meets have always been a time of fun and fitness at Latham Centers. Residential Activities Coordinator Danny Anderson has taken a leadership role with Special Olympics at our Children’s Campus, and the teamwork, healthy competition, and consistent fitness is such a joy to watch!
“I see students out on the field practicing with much involvement from the staff, and now we even have a cheerleading team – it’s incredible,” noted Katrina Kozak. “Danny and the team of Special Olympics coaches are truly dedicated to our athletes – and to the mission of Special Olympics!”
Take a look at the video showcasing our awesome Latham Hawks athletes and coaches!
…The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.
