On March 11th and 12th, the boys from the Peter Cooper House in Wareham participated in the Special Olympics Winter Games. Matt, Dalton, and Eric practiced all winter with their team, the New Bedford Hawks. They practiced every weekend for 14 weeks, competed against teams throughout southern MA all winter long, and after a close win at the semi-finals at Mass Maritime, they advanced to the Winter Games at Auburn High School in Worcester.
They competed in the games for two days. After a long fight they came away with one win and one loss. They did their best, tried their hardest, and were very happy with their win. They proudly display their silver and bronze medals! Congrats to all the Special Olympics Athletes that participated. We are very excited to begin practice this week for the Volleyball and Swimming events so that we may compete in the Summer Games in June! GO Hawks!
