Last month’s holiday dance

As promised, we’re sharing reflections of our Children’s Program’s successful St. Patrick’s Day Dance last month. In Patrice’s Prader-Willi syndrome Tip (PWS Tip of the Week: Celebrating the holidays – Latham Centers), she explained how holidays can be celebrated safely. The students were so eager to attend the dance at our Latham campus expansion site, and they were not disappointed! The decorations and setup of “the Clover Room” were fantastic! As you can see in the photos, many students danced the evening away, laughed with friends, and celebrated each other.

In an email to Children’s Program staff after the dance, Residential Activities Coordinator Danny Anderson said, “Tonight, we had the St. Patrick’s Day Dance! Thank you to all staff who came and supported the kids during that time! Huge shout out to Jacqueline & Lindsay for running the Latham shuttle service and transporting everyone to and from! Thank you!”

In a great show of support, a student’s brother, Murphy M., surprised everyone and DJed the dance. Guests like Murphy always light up our students’ faces. (THANKS SO MUCH, Murphy!) Dances like these are a shining example of our staff working together to provide fun, safe, and social activities for the students who call our Latham Campus home. We’d like to thank our larger community for their part in events like our St. Patrick’s Day Dance.

We can’t wait for the town’s upcoming “Brewster in Bloom” events!
