Invitation to support Team Latham in next week’s “The Gasp”

Latham Centers will be participating in The Gasp fundraising bike ride next week! The ride is taking place virtually over seven days, with each rider completing at least 55 miles during the week ahead. Barnstable Charitable Foundation, the event organizer, noted, “The Gasp is a 55-mile ride so we challenge you to strive for a grand total of 55 miles throughout the week, but that never stopped anyone from shooting for 100 miles!”

The Virtual Gasp begins this weekend, and Team Latham will end the week with a 38-mile group ride from Nickerson State Park to Wellfleet and back on Sunday, September 20th beginning at 9:00 a.m. (weather-permitting).

How can you help or participate?

1. Donate to a rider! Team Latham riders include-Ellen Erickson (Board member and Latham family member); Christine Gillstrom Burgess (Board Chair); Mark Burgess (Latham supporter); Anne McManus (President & CEO); Heather Kelsey (Director of Development); mother/daughter Dawn Dinnan (Director of Communications) and Carly; and others you’ll see on The Gasp’s fundraising page for Latham.

2. Ride in THE GASP! It is not too late to register – encourage your friends and family near and far to join us!  Here is the link: https://www.thegasp.org/  If you register to ride, be sure to choose Latham Centers as your beneficiary charity. The registration fee has been reduced to $25 and the minimum fundraising commitment is only $250 this year. This is a perfect year for seniors and/or children 10 and up to join Team Latham. Riders from across the country are welcome to join our team – the ride can take place anywhere! All riders will get an official “The Gasp” t-shirt and prizes will be awarded for the beneficiary charity whose team raises the most money.

3. Cheer on Team Latham next Sunday! We’ll be riding the Orleans-to-Wellfleet (and back) stretch of the Cape Cod Rail Trail bike path on Sunday morning, September 20th. (Weather-dependent – please reach out to Heather Kelsey for the route and timing at hkelsey@lathamcenters.org).

All funds raised for Latham through The Gasp will support the Expanding Our Circle Campaign for the new Latham Community and Arts Center. Thanks in advance for your support!

Although we’ll miss the “Boat & Bake” part of The Gasp this year, we are so grateful to the Barnstable Charitable Foundation for facilitating this creative 2020 virtual version of The Gasp. It is fantastic to be able to put this special fundraising event on our calendars!
