Exciting start to the 2022 Latham School year – Capoeira included!
September 14, 2022
After the first day of the school year came to a close, Director of Education Meghan Foley thanked everyone for such a wonderful first day of school. “In my ten years at Latham, I have not seen such a smooth transition from SummerTide to School. As I walked around, I saw students engaged in group discussions and participating in the activities offered. This all occurred because of everyone’s dedication to our students.”
Some highlights to our new school year include:
-
New Social Skills Curriculum which includes developing coping skills to manage a variety of stresses, understanding diversity and inclusion, and a focus on anti-bullying.
-
New Science and Social Studies curricula
-
New teachers Gabrielle (Performing Arts/Theater), Ben (Physical Education and Health), and Lisa (Special Education)
On Friday, the students participated in an interactive Capoeira group led by Andre Lima. This is Andre’s team’s second time on campus with Capoeira Basoura, and the students absolutely love it. Thank you, Andre, for helping kick off our first week of school with a bang!
