Elizabeth Roof reads to kids around the country on Latham’s Virtual Storytime

To celebrate PWS Awareness Month, Latham Centers has invited special guests to read to our students on Virtual Storytime. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, children at Latham Centers (and in their homes across the country) come together online for a fun surprise, a good book, and an interactive social hour. Each guest reader brings something special to Virtual Storytime. Whether they are a legislative or non-profit leader, a professional in the PWS community, a weather forecaster or other new “grown-up” friend, they have provided the gift of storytelling and delightful conversation. Throughout the month of May and beyond, we will continue to highlight our special guest readers and say THANK YOU. We’re all in this together!

Guest Reader Elizabeth Roof: More than 40 children and family members eagerly anticipated Latham’s Virtual Storytime on Monday, April 27th, welcoming Latham’s first guest reader. Friends logged into the video call from Latham Centers’ campus on Cape Cod, and from living rooms and home offices as far away as California. Elizabeth Roof surprised everyone when she “zoomed in” from Tennessee and read Memoirs of a Goldfish by Devin Scillian. After the reading, everyone remained on the video call and got to know one another better, asking questions like, “What kind of pets do you have?” and, “What do you do at work?”

Latham Centers works closely with Elizabeth, who consults with us and trains our staff on the most up-to-date clinical interventions. Thank you, Elizabeth, for continuing to support our staff, and for joining our special Storytime! It has been such a joy to offer our community the opportunity for new friendships and growing companionship during this challenging time.
