Donkey Wedding featured in Cape Media News “Best of Summer” broadcast

Cape Media News published a follow-up segment Friday featuring Latham Centers’ donkey wedding, selected as one of the local television news broadcast’s “Best of Summer” stories. You can view the CCMN September 6th broadcast here.  Gabrielle Rosson of the Cape TV newscast said their story about Latham Centers’ fundraiser to support our Asinotherapy (donkey therapy) program was one of the stories their viewers loved – and Gabrielle happily shared with viewers on Friday that Esther and Esau honeymooned in Paris and couldn’t be better.

As Gabrielle reported, after their May wedding celebration at Taylor-Bray Farm, the happy couple traveled to France, booked flawlessly by Susan Peavey Travel. As you can see in the photos below, Esther and Esau visited the Eiffel Tower. (Of course, our donkeys didn’t really fly abroad — their post-nuptial trip to Paris was, in fact, a photo-shoot at “Bill’s Barn” at one of our group residences where the miniature donkeys live. Denise Pressman of Fleeting Moments Photography generously donated the honeymoon photo session.)

Married life certainly agrees with Esther and Esau! Meanwhile, our program participants continue to care for the newlyweds and their barn-mates Moonbeam, Curley, Angus, and Jake. One of the donkey caregivers spoke at the wedding fundraiser about the impact of Latham’s donkey program: “I have been working with the donkeys for nine years. It is a lot of responsibility, and I am proud of myself for handling it.”

Latham Centers’ fundraising for our cherished Asinotherapy program continues, and supporters of the donkey therapy program stay in touch via Latham’s website and Donkeys-for-Good blog.

“The joyful, combined effort of so many to help support Latham’s Asinotherapy Program was truly a wonderful component of our Donkey Wedding, and all of us at Latham Centers are so appreciative of Cape Media News for sharing our donkey therapy program news,” commented Director of Development Heather Kelsey.

We’re grateful to have been featured in the “Best of Summer” news segment!
