Congratulations to our friends at Outer Cape Health Services

Outer Cape Health Services is opening its Harwich Port Community Health Center today and we’d like to congratulate them on this monumental achievement. The non-profit organization provides health care and supportive social services, and today marks the official opening of their location in the renovated former Thompson’s Market on Main Street (Route 28), Harwich Port. Their two-story building across from Saquatucket Harbor includes 18 patient exam rooms, a pharmacy, lab services, ambulatory transfer area, community conference room, and administrative offices.

At Outer Cape Health Services’ ribbon cutting ceremony and open house last Tuesday, a member of our Latham team joined dozens of community stakeholders to tour the new health center and hear the words of appreciation for the many heroes who worked so hard in planning, designing, constructing, and funding the opening of the new health center. Congressman Bill Keating, who played a significant role in untangling some of the bureaucracy with federal funding, was thanked for his efforts. The Congressman spoke about Outer Cape’s very important initiatives in improving and saving lives, commenting “This is a community game-changer in this part of Cape Cod.”

Some of the children and adults who call Latham Centers home receive health care services from Outer Cape’s team. Amazingly, Outer Cape serves more than 16,000 people per year at locations in Provincetown, Wellfleet, and Harwich, and the new facility has tripled capacity for Lower Cape patients. Latham Centers’ staff members and service recipients will certainly benefit from the expansion of this exceptional community resource dedicated to providing good quality, affordable health care. Outer Cape Health Services is a federally qualified community health center, so they are able to provide care to everyone—regardless of their ability to pay.

Congratulations, Outer Cape Health Services – we are grateful for this wonderful gift to the entire community!
