College student opportunity: Latham seeks Communications Intern

Latham Centers is seeking a volunteer Communications Intern. Students with an interest in human services and a passion for writing are encouraged to apply. The schedule is flexible, and during this unpaid internship, students may be able to earn college credit. (Students will be responsible for checking with their schools). Past college student internships have proven very rewarding for our interns and for Latham Centers. We’ve been fortunate to mentor student interns in several disciplines over the years, including residential, clinical, accounting, development/fundraising, and communications.

The Communications Intern will work directly with Latham’s Director of Communications, Dawn Dinnan, learning about the agency’s mission, its Children’s and Adult Services Programs, and the ways Latham communicates with its external and internal community members. The internship is collaborative — many departments participate in sharing Latham’s good news, events, and staff achievements. The intern will develop journalistic, marketing, research, and social media skills. This is a unique opportunity to learn from professionals with diverse specialties in communications, marketing, and development, and to be a part of an organization doing phenomenal work to enhance the lives of children and adults with special needs.

College students who would like to learn more about the internship are asked to email a letter of interest to recruiting@lathamcenters.org.
