Clint Hurdle leaves our Virtual Storytime attendees starry-eyed

To celebrate PWS Awareness Month, Latham Centers has invited special guests to read to our students three evenings a week on Virtual Storytime.*

Guest Reader Clint Hurdle: The students on our Virtual Storytime platform excitedly welcomed Clint Hurdle as our third guest reader. Clint is not only a member of our larger PWS family, but an important person in the history of American League Baseball, and he enthusiastically agreed to read a story to students on our online platform.

“Clinton Merrick Hurdle is an American former professional baseball outfielder and former manager of the Pittsburgh Pirates of Major League Baseball. Hurdle played in MLB for the Kansas City Royals, Cincinnati Reds, New York Mets, and St. Louis Cardinals, and has also managed for the Colorado Rockies.” (Wikipedia)

“Many students, parents, and staff knew about Clint, while others asked questions and learned about him for the first time,” noted Director of National Outreach Katrina Fryklund. “Mathias even has some signed memorabilia, and he was over the moon! After Clint’s reading of The House at the End of the Road by Kari Rust, the kiddos asked him questions like how many home runs and who was his favorite person he ever played with. After the reading, Clint emailed the team and wrote, “Honored to serve, humbled to help.”  Thank you, Clint!”

* Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, students at Latham Centers (and in their homes across the country) come together online for a fun surprise, a good book, and an interactive social hour. Each reader brings something special to Virtual Storytime. Whether they are a legislative or non-profit leader, a professional in the PWS community, or a weather forecaster, they have provided the gift of storytelling and delightful conversation. Throughout the month of May and beyond, we will continue highlight our special guest readers and say THANK YOU.
