Brewster Whitecaps share two team members with Latham for the summer

Welcome, Brewster Whitecaps baseball players Tony Locey and Michael Curry, to our Maintenance team! The Whitecaps are part of the Cape Cod Baseball League, the premier amateur baseball league in the United States since 1885.

Tony (pictured on the Latham School campus, left), Whitecaps pitcher, is from Columbus, Georgia, and studies engineering at the University of Georgia. Mike (pictured, right), Whitecaps catcher, is from Murphy, North Carolina, and studies computer science at the University of Georgia. Tony and Mike work with Latham’s Maintenance Apprentice Jonasz Szulinski (pictured, center) on landscaping and maintenance projects.

For more than a decade, Whitecaps players have been employed by Latham Centers while they’re here on Cape Cod playing collegiate baseball for the summer. Tony loves our local beaches, and his favorite restaurant is the Lost Dog Pub in Orleans. Tony played baseball and football through his junior year of high school. Mike especially likes the weather here (not as hot as Georgia) and said the scenery is like a post card. His favorite breakfast place is the Hole in One in Orleans. Mike also played baseball and football through his junior year of high school.

Both Whitecaps players said they love being a part of the Cape Cod Baseball League because they are surrounded by great talent and have great coaches. The staff at Latham Centers appreciates having these enthusiastic, hard workers helping out this summer. And the students especially love seeing the friendly ball players around campus.

Tony and Mike, thank you – we’ll be cheering for the Whitecaps at nearby Stony Brook Field!
