Adult Services resident hosts first pop-up farm stand in Brewster
September 26, 2017
At his first-ever pop-up farm stand last week, Latham resident Warren sold vegetables and herbs from the garden he planted at his home in Yarmouth Port. Warren’s garden stand was a great success, thanks to many who have supported his vocational venture. Agway assisted in the planting stage, Latham staff members helped throughout the growing season, and the owner of the Great Cape Herbs property on Main Street in Brewster welcomed Warren to set up his stand there.
Vocational Director Maura Smith said Warren’s farm stand was an exciting representation of the individualized career planning services at Latham Centers. “It’s great to see our individuals find their passions and engage in the community doing the things they really care about,” she said. Warren persevered through planting his garden, taking good care of it, and learning vocational skills such as pricing, salesmanship, display, and food storage. Warren was happy to earn some money for his hard work, and he expressed interest in donating produce to local food pantries.
