The Adult Service Provider Fair hosted by the May Institute was a great opportunity to meet both families of transitioning adults and some of the May’s own staff, both who were looking to educate themselves about the myriad of options available to those adults who are coming of age at 22. There were plenty of questions about Latham Centers, the unique services we provide, and our location based deep on the Cape was especially interesting to a lot of folks and employees. Many had not heard of Shared Living either, which provided a moment of realization for many attendees that there were many more options out there for their children than just the traditional models they’d been educating themselves about for the last few years as time grew closer to choosing. Overall it was a great experience and I believe that a lot was learned by all, including this writer.
