A celebration of Women’s History Month: featuring Desiree Michienzi

Today, for Women’s History Month, we honor and thank our Latham Hero Desiree Michienzi, Behavior Specialist in our Children’s Program.

When walking through the Schoolhouse, Desiree is a constant. Whether calming a student having a challenging moment or celebrating a student during the community meeting, Desiree is a gifted Behavior Specialist. She is a mother and a mentor, as well as a reliable leader amongst her colleagues. She has been working at Latham Centers since June of 2018, joining us because she felt like something was missing in her career as a gemologist. Desiree knew other strong women working at Latham, and she wanted to take a leap of faith.

What Desiree loves most about Latham is our students. “The kids that I work with are my driving force. They are strong and resilient and face incredible challenges every day yet keep going. I’m the lucky one to be working with them.”

Thank you, Desiree – you help make the program life-changing for our residents, and you are exceptional!

In honor of Women’s History Month, we’re celebrating Latham’s inspirational women with weekly Latham Hero Highlights through the end of March.
