The Marconi, Long Pond, and Brewster Falls classrooms have been learning about animals and their habitats during the SummerTide program these past few months in Zoology.  They have learned about the Capybara of South America that is the largest rodent in the world and can be owned as a household pet.  The Flamingo is not naturally pink; it turns color after eating shrimp which affects its Keratin!
The culmination of the Zoology class was a Zoomobile program that visited from the Buttonwood Zoo in New Bedford. The Zoo’s education outreach program included a presentation on Animal Adaptions entailed a Box Turtle named Tilly, and a Great Horned Owl.  The students are always excited about animals, which made the presentation a memorable one with lots of questions for the Zoo handler, Hannah.
We hope to have them come back again in the future for more fun presentations on their other animal programs!
