Happy World Social Work Day 2022!

Today we join the world in amplifying the incredible work of SOCIAL WORKERS – especially Latham Centers’ essential (and greatly appreciated) Social Services Team!  

We are celebrating Latham’s devoted Social Services staff members for the work they do day in and day out. Our clinical team is a critical component tying together all who participate in the education and well-being of our students. We applaud the work you do for our population – and for our staff! Thank you to the whole Social Services team; Judy, Beth, Carlyn, Bill, Heather, Ashley, and Viki – and a shout-out to Patrice, too!

Some cool social worker facts:

• • In 1898, the first Social Work class was offered at Columbia University

  • In 1932, Jane Addams, an icon in the field, was one of the first social workers to receive the Nobel Peace Prize

  • There are over 170 elected officials who have a background in social work

  • Only 640,000 social workers worldwide – an elite group!
