Donkeys-For-Good: Frank Morning Show features Latham donkey program

Our community has been exceptional in its support of this weekend’s SOLD OUT Donkey Wedding fundraiser! One of those supporters is CapeCodRadio.com. Last week, radio station 93.5 FM’s Frank Morning Show featured Latham and our Asinotherapy Program, the beneficiary of the fundraising event. Radio hosts Doug Frye and Mina Green interviewed Heather Kelsey, our Director of Development, to publicize the Donkey Wedding and share how donkeys Esther and Esau are “getting hitched” for a cause.

On air with Doug and Mina last Tuesday morning, Heather highlighted Latham Centers’ Children’s and Adult Programs and the services we provide, and details about our “big event” – the Donkey Wedding at Taylor-Bray Farm! Heather noted that we are an internationally renowned treatment program for individuals with Prader-Willi syndrome, explaining, “As part of our supplemental therapeutic and vocational programming, we have the donkey program or ‘Asinotherapy Program’.” She talked about Latham’s six miniature donkeys which live at one of our group residences: “The donkeys are incredibly gentle and they crave attention… Our program participants really enjoy connecting with the donkeys and just having that bonding experience – it has been a real enriching part of our program.”

After the radio interview, Mina said, “Heather, thank you so much for taking the time to talk with us this morning and to help educate people about Latham Centers and all the wonderful things that you do for our kids and young adults with disabilities, and the therapy with the donkeys is just incredible.”

Although the wedding is now sold out, we invite our greater community to learn more about the Asinotherapy Program at LathamCenters.org/donkeys-for-good. We’re looking forward to sharing highlights of the event in upcoming blogs.
