Staff Spotlight: Honoring Dominic Monick, maaps award nominee (Part 4
April 5, 2018
Several Latham staff members were recently nominated for the Albert E. Trieschman Memorial Award for Exceptional Direct Service to Children given annually by the Massachusetts Association of 766 Approved Private Schools (maaps). The award is intended to acknowledge superior direct service contributions to special needs children by a clinician, specialist or child care worker whose performance and achievement reflect the high principles of the profession and the Association as set forth in the ethical and professional standards of maaps and as required by the complex demands associated with serving special needs children. Many of the Latham School’s direct care staff were nominated for their work in supporting our students. An excerpt of Behavior Specialist Dominic Monick’s nomination for the Albert E. Trieschman Memorial Award follows:
“Dominic has been the stabilizing presence in the Children’s Services Residential Program for the West Wing Suite. He has been integral in assisting in the development of programming and behavioral interventions in a suite whose focus is on reducing unwanted behaviors. Dominic is calm, neutral, empathetic, and solution-focused. He is strength-based in his approach and has utilized any resources available to him (clinical, ABA, etc.) to provide the students with a positive role model to learn from. He is an outstanding resource for new staff and is often called upon to assist in training new staff to the West Wing. He is a favorite among his students and the foundation within the west.”
Congratulations on your well-deserved award nomination, Dominic!
