Latham Centers honors Brendan Corliss for his 2017 Strength Ride

One of the highlights of the Adult Services Program holiday celebration was the presentation of a special award to Brendan Corliss, brother of Latham resident Justin Corliss.

At the December 21st event, Brendan was honored for his 2017 Strength Ride fundraiser in support of Latham Centers. In October, Brendan rode his bike 220 miles (much of it in the rain) from Portland, Maine to Cape Cod. Brendan organized the ride himself, dedicated it to his brother Justin, and raised over $2,400 for Latham.

At last week’s holiday celebration at the Hyannis DoubleTree Hotel, our Director of Development Heather Kelsey congratulated Brendan on his ride and thanked him on behalf of the agency. Brendan and Justin were presented with a plaque featuring a photo of the brothers dressed as Batman and Robin, and the inscription: “Sometimes being a brother is even better than being a superhero” (a quote by Marc Brown, author of the well-known “Arthur the Aardvark” children’s book series).

Brendan and Justin received a standing ovation from guests, which included Latham adult residents and their families, as well as Latham staff members. Congratulations and thank you to Brendan for your incredible ride.
