Housing to Protect Cape Cod Summit: ‘Change has begun!’

The momentum for regional collaboration on workforce housing continues following last month’s “Housing to Protect Cape Cod” summit.

“Change has begun,” in the words of the Housing Assistance Corporation at their November 3rd event with more than 400 in attendance at the Cape Codder Resort & Spa in Hyannis. HAC called the summit turnout “incredible” for the official launch of Housing to Protect Cape Cod. Those who gathered as a community – from every age group – sought “to learn how we can change the trajectory of our housing crisis.”

Latham Centers President & CEO Anne McManus was a panel speaker at the Housing Summit before a standing-room crowd, sharing some of our staff’s struggles to find adequate housing. Concerns and calls for creative solutions expressed by Anne and other panelists were amplified in our local news media.

The summit’s call to action was clear: all Cape Codders need to get involved to advocate for housing solutions. “Housing to Protect Cape Cod encourages local action by Cape Cod residents in support of year-round housing that is affordable for the people who make our communities work.”

More information is available at Housing to Protect Cape Cod. Latham Centers is grateful for their fabulous work communicating many opportunities to share our voices. HPCC encourages everyone to sign this pro-workforce housing petition: https://housingtoprotectcapecod.org/housing-to-protect-cape-cod-petition/

The petition tells our local leaders that prioritizing workforce housing is important to us. Bumper stickers (HOUSING to PROTECT CAPE COD #SaveTheLocals) are also available to show your support.
