Telling our Stories
October 27, 2015
*We have reached out to our student and adult residents and have asked them to share their stories with us. They’ve courageously battled through medical and familial issues to be where they are today and they tell of what makes them happiest while others will tell you about their journey through medical diagnoses like PWS. They tell the truth behind what it means to have special needs and we thank every resident for sharing and every staffer for listening. To respect the privacy of our individuals, we have changed their names.
Jeremiah:
I’ve been working on myself and it’s hard because I have Prader-Willi Syndrome. I do fitness and I listen to music. These help me cope with things like eating well. I do eat well at Latham and am losing weight – I do cross fit and it helps me with my muscles. Sometimes loud noises bother me because they hurt my ears but I am working on that also. I love to joke with staff at Latham because it makes me happy!
