Prom 2018: Latham students enjoy extra special day thanks to donors and staff

May 22, 2018

Students from Latham School had a wonderful time at their prom last week. The prom was hosted by Best Buddies at the Harwich Community Center on May 14th. Our students were up early in anticipation of the big day, and many staff members volunteered their time to come in and help students get ready. The morning started with hair and make-up, and the young ladies were dolled up, pampered, and looking beautiful! Just after breakfast, the folks from Puritan of Cape Cod arrived to assist the gentlemen with tuxes. The men’s clothing experts from Puritan also helped the boys to choose color coordinated ties and vests. Students were photographed with peers, staff, and special donors before heading off-campus to join students from other Cape schools at the Harwich event. While at the prom, they took turns riding in a limousine around beautiful Cape Cod. The students danced, sang, and enjoyed lunch with friends. One student who was asked what she enjoyed most about the event said, “I am so thankful that I was able to go to a real prom. The dancing was my favorite part!” Other students said the entire day of the prom was so much fun!

In addition to thanking Puritan of Cape Cod for their help with tuxedo fittings on campus, we’d like to thank The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod for generously underwriting the tuxedo rentals for our students again this year. Our young ladies are also grateful to Golden Crown Cleaners (located in Hyannis and Falmouth) for dry cleaning all of the prom dresses, making them even more sparkly and beautiful. They made a poster and canvas art for Golden Crown to show their appreciation.
