Progress
April 17, 2014
I was at a conference recently and I stepped into the elevator and saw this on the wall.
PROGRESS IS ALWAYS A WORTHWHILE JOURNEY
I immediately snapped a picture, knowing I wouldn’t remember the exact quote. However, I knew this needed to be shared with other parents; certainly parents of children with special needs. We already know our child’s progress comes at a different rate. But it doesn’t matter, because we have learned to celebrate whatever progress our child makes. It may be learning to point or wave. Or it may be learning to sit up, walk, talk etc. This journey we are on is so worthwhile yet it may take us awhile to see it.
If you are still grieving after having received a diagnosis, you are in good company. If you are further along, you are in good company, too. I believe that all of us come to the conclusion that this journey we take with our child is worthwhile. Why? Because our kids are the most special kiddos on this planet and in this journey, theirs and ours, progress will continue to be made and we will be able to say that it is, indeed, a WORTHWHILE JOURNEY!!!!
