Latham’s Adult Program receives grant from Cape Cod Healthcare Foundation

During times of uncertainty and crisis, people, organizations, and communities come together to support one another in remarkable ways. While the pandemic has required Latham Centers to band together even more tightly within, it has also reminded us of the strength of our deep and abiding community partnerships. We’re so pleased to announce that the Cape Cod Healthcare Foundation has awarded a grant to Latham Centers!

Our Adult Services Program recently received the grant funding through the Cape Cod Healthcare Foundation’s Community Benefits Program for the purchase of hospital beds and tables for the residents of our new group home in Wareham. The new residence, designed with the health and safety needs of our older service recipients in mind, is single-floor living to accommodate individuals with mobility issues. The new hospital beds and tables will prevent falls and increase independence for the individuals who call our beautiful new Great Neck residence home.

Gina Sheehan, Latham’s Director of Adult Services, explained that advances in the treatment of Prader-Willi syndrome have significantly impacted the quality of life for older adults. “Individuals with PWS are living longer, healthier lives,” Gina said.  A core tenet of Latham Centers’ strategic plan is to provide a continuum of care for the individuals we serve, to allow them to age with independence, safety, and dignity.  “Latham has a very special opportunity to be involved in people’s care throughout the life span, and our Adult Program couldn’t be more honored to participate in this endeavor,”  Gina said.

All of us at Latham wish to thank the Cape Cod Healthcare Foundation for its dedication to supporting the needs of so many people throughout our Cape Cod community!
