Latham Centers: A weekend of Giving and Receiving
May 8, 2015
Rachel Dewees and Gina Sheehan twist balloon animals, two Latham students smile proudly and admire their crafts, and Siobhan Magnus helps raise fund for Latham.
May 2nd was a thrilling day for many people at Latham Centers. As part of Brewster in Bloom, students sold crafts at Drummer Boy Park where the Brewster Chamber hosted Kid’s Fest. Latham Centers staffers Rachel Dewees, Admissions Assistant, and Gina Sheehan, Children’s Residential Director, twisted balloon animals and balloon flowers for the crowds. By day’s end the staffers had raised $183 in suggested donations. Additionally, the craft fair grabbed many people’s attention as students sold soap, jewelry, Mother’s Day Items, and coasters (to name a few). By the end students had raised almost $300! Thank you so much to Rachel and Gina for all that they did in planning this event.
The students have decided that they will donate funds earned from this successful craft fair to Brewster Baptist Church.
To make Saturday even more eventful, Siobhan Magnus played at Guapo’s Tortilla Shack to a large crowd. Latham Centers’ students, adults and staff thank Kyle Parker and Danna Perry, the Guapo’s staff, and Siobhan Magnus and her band for all that they did.
Cheers to a successful weekend full of philanthropic giving to help launch National PWS Month at Latham Centers!
