Latham Adults Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day
April 11, 2011
Individuals from the Gilbough Program are invited to join the Creativity Group. The group meets 1-2 times a month. The individuals are invited to bring craft projects they are already working on or we will provide them an activity.
On March 16, the Creativity group met at the Great Hill Residence. The theme was Saint Patrick’s Day and the activity was decorating foam shamrocks with glitter, markers, and stickers. Staff person, Rae Dewees, discussed the history of St. Patrick’s day as well as some interesting and fun facts about the Irish holiday.
The individuals enjoyed pizza, soda, salad, and jello with festive green cool whip.
After dinner, Staff and the individuals listened to traditional Irish folk music. A few of the individuals gave a demonstration of traditional Irish dancing including the “Irish step-dance” and ” The Irish Jig.” Later in the evening, one of the individuals set up her MP3 player and speakers and played disco .
Creativity group will meet next on April 20.
The shamrocks that grow,
And may trouble avoid you
Wherever you go.”
