It’s a Small World…

October 1, 2010

The other night I was out to dinner when someone came over to me and introduced herself as a family member for a student we provide services for.  I was delighted to meet her and was so pleased to hear how much she and the student’s family feels supported by the hard work and dedication of the Latham Centers staff. It is an unusual thing to have 15 students with PWS in the same program.  So often, they are the ‘odd man out” in their schools and communities.

When kids with PWS have a food secure environment and staff trained in their care, the world opens up for them.  Families will always worry about their children; it’s part of being a parent.  But how rewarding it is to hear that the stress and fear for their child has been diminished due to the existence of a school like ours. To think that this gem of a program on Cape Cod is reaching around the world  helping families, adults and children challenged with PWS makes me enormously proud to work at Latham Centers!

Whatever you call it, whoever you are, you need one.”
