Impact of Cape non-profits and donors celebrated at 23rd Annual Philanthropy Day

Philanthropy Partners of the Cape and Islands (PPCI) hosted Philanthropy Day at the Resort and Conference Center in Hyannis yesterday. “Think big. Act boldly. Achieve impact.” was the tagline of the 23rd Annual PPCI Conference.

Each year, 500 professionals from non-profit organizations on Cape Cod and the Islands, their volunteers and board members, as well as professionals such as attorneys, estate planners, financial advisors, and accountants attend the event to share current best practices in fundraising and celebrate charitable giving in the spirit of philanthropy on Cape Cod and the Islands.

“I look forward to Philanthropy Day every year,” said Heather Kelsey, Latham’s Director of Development and Philanthropy Day Committee member. “It is both a celebration of the broad impact that Cape non-profits have on our community and an opportunity for professional development.” Also representing Latham at the event were Anne McManus, President & CEO; Dawn Dinnan, Director of Communications; Sheri Peterson, Executive Assistant to the CEO; Diana Morgan, Development Associate; and Latham Board members Vicki Dunnington, Kathryn Earle, Jo-Ellen Erickson, and Christine Gillstrom Burgess, and Latham volunteer Anne Tuckerman.

Keynote speaker Dan Pallotta, American humanitarian activist and inventor of the multi-day charitable event industry which launched the 3-Day Walks for Breast Cancer and the multi-day AIDS Rides which raised a combined total of more than half a billion dollars in nine years, gave an inspiring address about transforming the way that we think about charity in order to affect real social change. Dan’s Ted Talk, “The Way We Think About Charity is All Wrong”  is among the top 100 most listened to Ted Talks of all time.

Latham Centers wishes to thank the Board and conference planning committee of PPCI for an exceptional, informative day. Save the date for next year’s Philanthropy Day – Tuesday, November 10th, 2020 – and please visit https://capecodphilanthropy.org/ for more information about PPCI membership and events.
