Adult Services celebrates with ribbon-cutting ceremony in Harwich

Five Latham School graduates have moved to their new home in Harwich! Adult Services held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday at the newly opened “Freds” group residence, and staff and residents were all smiles. The ribbon-cutting highlighted the teamwork at Latham Centers that enabled our students to smoothly transition from Children’s Services to Adult Services.

The new residents at Freds are happy to be in their new home, close to their Latham campus community in Brewster. Residential Manager Kayla Cox said she is grateful to her colleagues who have supported Latham’s recent graduates throughout their transition from the Children’s campus to the Freds residence. “The interdepartmental coordination for the two-stage move and home opening was remarkable, and Latham’s Facilities Department went above and beyond, working incredibly hard to get everything done fast for the program,” Kayla said. “Many Latham employees worked together to ensure a very positive outcome for our residents and their families.” The residents love walking in the community, Kayla noted, and they have started a backyard garden. “Our individuals are happy, excited, and thriving. One mom said she is so happy that her son has a ‘forever home,’ and one resident said he is glad to have new housemates who have been Latham friends since he was young.”

Congratulations to our Adult Services team for your many successes in meeting the specialized needs of the individuals who call Latham home!
